Davao city is consists of different ethnic and tribal groups that shapes the city itself for its colorful history.Davao city has been the indigenous peoples life and culture for the land itself is the core of their existence.Thats why the yearly celebration of KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL exists.The celebration starts every 3rd week of august.
The festival itself pays tribute to the indigenous peoples culture and traditions and the impact of these people to the artists as well as to the community itself.
Packed with different activities the whole week;showcasing the magnificent as well as variety of concepts regarding the beauty of the city and its culture to the world that made the city more progressive now adays that despite the economic crisis that the world is facing, the city itself continues to boom for investors are coming in and the people continue to support the local government’s projects.
Kadayawan Festival consists of street dancing which displays the ethnic dances moving all the streets of davao dressed in their most colorful and very outstanding costumes. Band and beauty pageants are also being held. The displays of the city’s local goods are aslo present. Food baskets around the metropolis offers affordable and very sumptous food. Floral parade is the main event that threadens the beautiful orchids and flowers that are growing in the city which are not only locally circulated but also imported in other countries.
Every year, numbers of visitors both local and foreigners come to witness the spectacle and to experience for themselves the beauty and warmth that the dabawenyos can offer.
